200hr Teacher Training Expectations and Cancellations:
Training Commitments and Expectations
Sivatantra Yoga views the opportunity to become a Yoga teacher as one of empowerment and self-discovery. It is a path that will inspire the student to go deep into their experience of yoga, fostering refined awareness as well as integrated precision in practice. The student will be equipped to with the necessary skills to share the gifts of Yoga with others. Entering into the training is a commitment to the individual, the group and the teachers; as such, it is expected that the student is prepared to participate fully in the program and to uphold certain agreements. These agreements include:
o Regular Peg City Yoga class attendance: Minimum 2 class per week with Noah or Robyn, if you live in the area.
If you do not live in the area, we have many online practices through https://yoganetra.com/sivatantra-yoga/ Use promo code: SIVATANTRA
o Personal Asana practice 2x per week for at least 1 hour (in addition to class attendance at PCY ( aka 4x weekly total).
o Personal Meditation practice at least 3x per week for at least 20 minutes.
o Recorded log of weekly Asana and Meditations practices, describing completed content and length of each session. To be reviewed by Robyn and Noah throughout the course of the Teacher Training.
o Attendance at all Teacher Training sessions is required.
o Homework assignments will include both reading and written work. All homework must be completed and handed in on time.
o A written take home test will be given to each student on the final day of the 200 hour Teacher Training. Each student is given 1 week to complete the take home test in full and return it to Robyn or Noah. Completing the written test is a requirement for formal Sivatantra Yoga certification.
o Upon successful completion of the Sivatantra Yoga Teacher Training Program, the student is required to teach 5 practicum Yoga classes, 1 class to be observed and critiqued by either Robyn or Noah. Upon successful completion of this, as well as the completed written test, the student will become officially certified as a 200 hour Sivatantra Yoga Teacher and will be eligible to register as a RYT with Yoga Alliance.
o Teaching practicum and take home exam must be completed within one year’s time post completion of the Sivatantra Teacher Training 200 hour curriculum. This includes the take home test completed in full, the 5 required classes taught, 1 class being observed by Noah or Robyn and necessary re-evaluation (a second class evaluation) based on learning needs. If the student fails to complete the take home exam in full and/or chooses to complete the teaching practicum after the 1 year timeline, the student will be required to submit a formal written reapplication for certification and a $200.00 fee will be issued in order to complete the process. The requirements for certification remain consistent in the reapplication process.
Please note that successful completion of the training involves full participation, as well as the ability to demonstrate that you have integrated the knowledge of the philosophy and principles of Yoga, its teaching methodology and the ability to communicate this clearly and with enthusiasm.
